After a rousing good concert in December of 2009, Artistry of the Guitar, a player-in–the-round concert series developed by Ken Bonfield of Boston, MA, will return and again feature Mr. Bonfield, joined by Steve Davison of Little Rock, AR. Artistry of the Guitar is a feast not only for guitar lovers, but also for anyone with a passion for acoustic music. The guitarists trade songs and stories about their compositions and their approach to the guitar in a casual concert setting. The music focuses on contemporary instrumental American Fingerstyle Guitar with folk, jazz, Celtic, classical and blues influences. The guitarists are very different stylistically and these different styles contribute to an evening of broad musical tastes. They say they've worked out a number of duets we can look forward to this time. Individually, Ken and Steve have each performed in the finest acoustic venues around the country and on radio, TV, and XM and Sirrius Satellite radio and in-flight music on several major airlines. Wisconsin acoustic music fans should be familiar with Ken Bonfield from his many performances in the past at venues such as the Riverfront Rendezvous, Clark Place, Amherst Coffee Co. and of course the Chestnut Avenue Center for the Arts.
A GUITAR WORKSHOP will be held the morning of Saturday, May 22, from 11am to 1pm. The workshop is a wonderful opportunity for guitarists at all levels to spend quality time with the performers.
