Mito de Soto Passion Flamenco Guitar Print
Sunday, May 06 2012, 3:30pm - 5:30pm Hits : 605

A premier Flamenco guitarist and vocalist, Mito de Soto brings his unique compositional style to Flamenco music and Flamenco form.  In his CD, “Sea yo” (Let me be), Mito holds true to traditional Flamenco styles and forms in a melancholy fashion yet adds a couple Rumbas for those who like to dance.

In his CD “Siguiendo” (Actually, Siguiendo el Espiritu, Following the Spirit) he combines the traditional Flamenco and Nuevo Flamenco with Jazzy chords and overtones, he also included a Dobro tuned in harmonic minor which gives a few pieces that Mid-Eastern sound.

In his CD, “Old World Classical Guitar”, Mito stays strictly to classical guitar, i.e., no vocals nor other instrumentation.  He chose difficult pieces such as Sevilla and Cádiz for this compilation as well as standard favorites, such as, Leyenda and Boureé in E minor.

In his CD “Ser un humano” (To be Human) Mito composed many standard Flamenco pieces (coplas viejas) holding true to tradition and yet integrating complex jazz chords; this CD is emotional and cerebral at the same time (This CD is due out Spring 2012).

As well as an eclectic performer, Mito holds a year in a Masters – Music Composition/Technology Program, which adds to his compositional structure.
